Africa’s Longest Cable-Stayed Bridge Features OmniCube™ Reflective Sheeting

An iconic landmark with an impressive nighttime display

Morocco recently celebrated the completion of the longest cable-stayed bridge in Africa, the Mohammed VI Bridge. Spanning the valley of the Bouregreg River near Rabat in Morocco, it is also the world’s third longest cable-stayed bridge. Named after the current king of Morocco, it has become an iconic new landmark and features an impressive nighttime light show.

AIC, one of the most important traffic sign converter in Morocco, recently partnered with Avery Dennison and selected T-11500 OmniCube for this prestigious project, including all of the approach signage.  In total, the project covered more than 41 kilometers of new signage around the City of Rabat as well as the bridge itself.

Mohamed Arbaoui, area sales manager for Avery Dennison, explained how fabrication entered into AIC’s decision making process.  “Because the signs were fabricated using computer-cut legend applied to a solid background, AIC leveraged its orientation-free properties which allowed for efficient nesting, minimizing material waste and cost”.

Hardly a day goes by that we don’t see another highway engineer or sign fabricator make the switch to OmniCube. Engineers recognize that OmniCube’s full-cube technology results in brighter, and safer signage. In a highly competitive bid market, sign fabricators know that reducing material waste on projects like this can be the difference between winning or losing a project.
