How to Apply for a Grant from the Avery Dennison Foundation

At this time, the Avery Dennison Foundation is focused on projects in China, India , Brazil, and other emerging markets where our employees live and work. Grant applications from other regions are also considered. Regardless of geography, all the grants we award will extend our strategic giving in support of education and sustainability. The Foundation accepts grant requests from employees and outside organizations and awards funding on a limited basis. Any group interested in obtaining a grant or grants from the Foundation should present a project or program that satisfies one or more of the following criteria:


Educational Grant Criteria:

  • Provide direct services to populations who are traditionally underserved because of gender, socioeconomic status or geography.

  • Provide educational improvements to elementary, secondary, post-secondary and/or vocational schools.

  • Focus funds on science, mathematics, technology or graphic and visual arts educational efforts.


Sustainable Grant Criteria:

  • Provide direct support for projects that improve the physical environment.

  • Involve young people and community members in the project's implementation.

  • Educate community members about responsible care of the environment, particularly as it relates to the manufacturing industry. Examples include energy and water conservation, waste reduction, recycling, responsible forestry, sustainable packaging, product safety and resource conservation.


We Do Not Fund or Sponsor:

  • Conferences, fundraisers and special events.

  • Organizations that discriminate against a person or a group on the basis of age, political affiliation, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.

  • Individual scholarships, stipends, fellowships, travel grants, etc.

  • For-profit organizations or ventures.

  • Government agencies.

  • Sports teams or fund-raising initiatives.

  • Religious groups for religious purposes.

  • Political organizations, candidates, ballot measure or other political activities.

  • Institutional endowments.

Grant Application Process:

General Guidelines The Avery Dennison Foundation can provide grants to non-profits and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with the proven capacity to successfully manage a project from concept to completion. We welcome applications for projects and programs that encourage young people and members of their communities to work toward realizing their visions for an improved world. The application guidelines shown below clarify the basic qualities of an organization we may choose to fund, and to help applicants develop proposals that meet our criteria for funding. Please carefully read our proposal submission process and online application process before you send a funding request.

Qualifications: Global Grantmaking Initiative

Organizations that request grants must meet the following criteria:

1. Be licensed and recognized by their respective governments.

2. All NGOs must provide a photocopy of their government certification to receive funds from a U.S.-based Foundation (e.g. applicants from India should include a photocopy of their FCRA approval).

3. Provide services to benefit the public in locations where Avery Dennison has facilities and a significant workforce presence.

4. Grant-funded activities must incorporate Avery Dennison employees into the community programs offered by the nonprofit or NGO.
