The Many Ways We Volunteer

We are proud that Avery Dennison employees around the world volunteer their time and talents to address social and material needs in their communities. The Foundation and its members are proud to provide financial and leadership support to organizations that improve quality of life in the communities where our employees live, learn and work.


Community Investment Teams (CITs) are groups of Avery Dennison employees with the interest in making a positive difference in our local community. We have over 50 CITs globally, made up of employee volunteers who facilitate engagement and volunteerism to help improve the communities surrounding our facilities.

Granting Wishes

This program builds on the Foundation’s focus on employee engagement. Throughout the United States and Europe, macro level issues such as the housing crisis and debt default often feel overwhelming and lead many to believe that individuals cannot make a difference. By supporting local nonprofits/NGOs, we are building the capacity of these organizations to continue providing needed services in our communities. During the past four years of the program, Granting Wishes has assisted 94 Nonprofit Organizations in 14 U.S. States and 13 European countries. We’ve had more than 525 Avery Dennison employees created 87 Community Investment Teams to participate, granting a total of $369,000 (USD) to local deserving nonprofits.

United Way

Community involvement has always been one of Avery Dennison's core values and social responsibility is brought to life every day through our leadership principles. It goes without saying that employees play an important role in creating a rich culture of caring at our company. Avery Dennison has a long and rich history of participating in United Way employee giving campaigns and supports the United Way’s vision of a world where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, income stability and healthy lives.

Model Integrity and Social Responsibility Leadership Excellence Award

Encouraging community involvement. Inspiring human promise. The Model Integrity and Social Responsibility Leadership Excellence Award was created by the Avery Dennison Foundation to recognize and encourage volunteer community service by Avery Dennison employees worldwide. This award was created in honor of former Avery Dennison Chairman, President and CEO, H. Russell Smith, who was actively committed to community service. By advancing Avery Dennison's values and leadership principles, the recipients of this award exemplify the Foundation's vision of inspiring human promise to create a more intelligent and sustainable world.
