In 2018, armed with Avery Dennison's Plastics Pledge and 2025 Sustainability Goals, Taruvi Jain had a question. Could one employee make a difference?
At Avery Dennison the answer is, in a word, yes.
A Fresh Perspective
When Taruvi relocated from India to Singapore in 2016, she not only had to embrace a new job as Regional Assistant Financial Planning and Analysis Manager, she also took on a new language and culture. And, she says, she noticed single-use plastics everywhere she looked.
'Can't Reduce or Reuse? Refuse.'
While governments around the world continue to legislate for change, Taruvi believes grassroots efforts can make a significant difference toward addressing the issues caused by single-use plastics. So, she set about to educate her coworkers and community on the environmental impact of single-use plastics, introducing a program to help others reduce their plastics use under the tagline: ‘Can’t Reduce or Reuse? Refuse.’
Why? Because as she says, “If everyone does their part, it won’t be a government issue.”
