Ricardo Fernandes is vice president of research and development for Avery Dennison Materials Group. Ricardo has worked in various supply chain and operations roles since joining Avery Dennison in 2012.

Now leading the R&D team, he provides vision and strategic direction to product development and technology roadmapping for the European label and graphics materials businesses. Ricardo collaborates with regional general managers and global marketing and sales leaders to build an innovation pipeline, and to translate commercial opportunities into sustainable products and solutions.

He enjoys leading a diverse R&D team, fostering personal development and an inclusive environment. Ricardo holds a PhD in Chemistry in the field of bioinorganic synthesis and catalysis from the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal.
