Many leading brands have set ambitious goals for reuse and refill models

Many leading brands, influenced by regulatory requirements and consumer demand, have set ambitious goals for reuse and refill models. In Europe, PPWR is mandating 10% reusable beverage packaging by 2030, increasing focus on deposit return schemes and refill models across food, beverage and home and personal care segments.

Refillable beverage bottles represent one of the most prominent reuse applications. However, scaling these models can present challenges, including low consumer adoption, quality concerns, complex sorting and reverse logistics, and the need for traceability and supply chain visibility to manage reusable packaging lifecycles.

Avery Dennison pressure-sensitive label solutions are designed to help address these challenges by enabling clear return instructions through digital triggers such as QR codes, simplified sorting and reverse logistics through RFID-enabled labels, enhanced lifecycle tracking and more efficient label removal during cleaning and refilling processes.
