What attracted you to your chosen work?
Building a new cloud platform from the ground up seemed like a very interesting project with many challenges on the road, and it was exactly what I had hoped to find. Doing so with the technology stacks that I have chosen as my favorites in the past was an additional bonus.

What skills did you develop early that are still useful today?
I see myself as an analytical person who tries to find good and long-lasting solutions for problems that come up in my work and personal life. Developing a picture of what I want to achieve in the mid to long-term feels accessible to me most of the time. This helps me to make good decisions on where to go.

How have you grown in your career at Avery Dennison?
In Avery Dennison, I learned many skills I did not have before. The way of working and the understanding that the team's success is as important as my personal success helped me increase my impact on our product. The diverse skill sets of my colleagues allow me to learn something new every day. Understanding and considering my colleagues' backgrounds and wishes when making technical decisions encourages me to reevaluate and improve my view of certain topics.

What's the biggest stretch opportunity you've taken on?

Taking the lead on an initiative to improve the development experience for all my colleagues when working on our front-end projects was challenging for many reasons. Considering the needs of the team, as well as having a busy roadmap, required me to invest time more efficiently.

What role has mentorship played in your career?

Having a leadership team that cares about each individual and takes time to help me see the direction in which I want to go was a big help. Without the flexibility and openness that was shown to me, many of what I see as my biggest achievements would not have been possible.

What’s the best career decision you’ve ever made?

Leaving my previous employer and joining Avery Dennison Atma was for the best that could have happened to me. The concerns and uncertainties I had initially resolved very quickly, and now it feels like a perfect fit for me.

As you think about the next steps in your career, what are the most important actions you plan to take?

I want to continue what I have started and help to make it easier for my colleagues to work on certain parts of our codebase. While spending more time improving the foundation of our platform so we can continue to make amazing use cases happen for our customers.

What do you enjoy most about the work you do?

Having a feeling of being an essential part of our team. As well as seeing customers with big names happy with the solutions I helped to develop.
