Why were you interested in Commercial, and what made you choose the Avery Dennison European Graduate Program?

Before joining Avery Dennison, I had been working for two years as a product manager in the wind energy industry. I took a step back and reflected on my career path, and I figured that I wanted to continue exploring different positions and industries. I was particularly interested in the Avery Dennison European Graduate Program as it offered the possibility to explore multiple functions, segments and markets over a short period of time. It seemed like a great feed.

How have you experienced the culture at Avery Dennison?

Being based in the European Headquarters, I have been impressed by the multicultural aspect of the teams I’ve worked with, as well as the multiplicity of backgrounds. I am inspired by the fact that several of my colleagues have changed positions and departments several times across their careers at Avery Dennison, showing that you can keep exploring, even at later stages in your career.

What do you see as the biggest personal benefit of your work so far?

On a personal note, working in a multicultural environment has always been something I have been looking for, this was also one of the key reasons I wanted to move abroad and join the ECP Program.

What is your greatest achievement in the company so far?

My greatest achievement so far has been to successfully support the growth of the ThermaVIP+ business for the pharmaceutical industry. In a few words, ThermaVIP+ is a solution for the temperature-controlled packaging market. As you can understand, this can be quite different from labelling solutions, which requires us to think outside of the box and adapt our way of working. Together with the project team, we have been able to scale up the business and improve our internal processes.

Keep exploring! […] Stay curious and don’t be afraid to try something new.

How do you experience the rotations during the European Graduate Program?

During my two rotations as part of the ECP program, I had the opportunity to work in four different roles: business development for the Pharma team, marketing and communication for the premium labels segment, M_use, as well as product management for the films team and marketing for the Labels and Packaging Materials Direct Thermal Linerless project.

Joining four distinct teams and segments over the span of two years can, of course, present a challenge: this requires quickly adapting and getting up to speed. However, the positive side is that this brings a unique learning opportunity and keeps things exciting, there is never a dull moment!

How have you grown in your career at Avery Dennison?

The ability to explore positions and understand various segments and industries was a key value of the ECP program, allowing me to have a broader overview of the labelling business and giving me a clear understanding of what I wanted to do for the next steps in my career. This has prepared me to confidently transition into my current role as Product Manager for the Pharma team.

What advice can you offer to others?

Keep exploring! The Early Career Program is a great platform to do so, but there are many other opportunities to continue exploring during your career, stay curious and don’t be afraid to try something new.
