What attracted you to your chosen work?
In 2019, I completed my Master’s Degree in chemical engineering. At that time, I was finishing my Master's Thesis in Stuttgart, Germany, when I received a message from Florian Schwickert via LinkedIn offering me a position in Switzerland, the country of chocolate, mountains and expensive watches. Being charmed by the opportunity to live in Switzerland, I joined Avery Dennison - after realizing what a great company Avery Dennison is.

What skills did you develop early that are still useful today?

Knowing many languages helps a lot to understand people's messages and needs. I kept skills such as fast learning and good self-organization from my university days.

How have you grown in your career at Avery Dennison?
I joined Avery Dennison Kreuzlingen in 2020 as an EHS Engineer. Afterwards, in 2021, I was promoted to EHS Manager. During that time and to this day, I have joined many professional and personal seminars. One should never stop learning.

What's the biggest stretch opportunity you've taken on?

Managing and leading people is one of the crucial challenges I have faced in my career. Identifying the strengths of the employees and highlighting them through projects and challenges, but also learning how to deal with the personal problems of those employees.

What role has mentorship played in your career?

Mentorship is very important, especially at the beginning of an individual's career. I was very lucky to have my site manager and the EHS managers supporting me and always giving genuine feedback. Thus, I was able to improve and see the tasks from a different point of view. The Kreuzlingen team served as a mentor in many situations and daily business. Willing, one can learn from everybody. Working in a multicultural team opens the horizon tremendously. Listen to different opinions and advice, but never forget to listen to your heart and mind.

Being charmed by the opportunity to live in Switzerland, I joined Avery Dennison—afterwards realizing what a great company Avery Dennison is.

What’s the best career decision you’ve ever made?

To join the Environment, Health and Safety team.

As you think about the next steps in your career, what are the most important actions you plan to take?

As of January 1, 2024, in addition to my EHS role, I will also take over the role of the Solvent Safety Program Manager Europe. I am looking forward to supporting the business within the community getting safer, since the health and safety of our colleagues is the number one priority at Avery Dennison. I am also very enthusiastic about gaining new best practices from the team.

What do you enjoy most about the work you do?

The teams are very multicultural and diverse, but still very solution-oriented. I enjoy working in a very free and bold environment with no boundaries that can stop us.
