Maintaining clear visibility on critical traffic signage is vital for road safety, particularly along high-speed motorways, highways, and busy urban thoroughfares. Recently, the city administration of Palermo, Sicily, faced a persistent challenge with its newly installed overhead traffic signs. Environmental moisture and heavy dew accumulation frequently compromised sign legibility during night and early morning hours, creating potential safety hazards for drivers.

Seeking a permanent and reliable fix, the city administration turned to industry experts to safeguard its signage infrastructure against condensation and dew build-up.

A Winning Partnership and Pioneer Solution

To address this issue, our longtime partner, S.I.E.S.S. S.R.L. (based in Palermo, Italy - http://www.siess.it/), collaborated closely with the authorized Avery Dennison distributor, Geosign. Together, they pitched a comprehensive material setup centered on Avery Dennison's advanced anti-dew technology. This milestone initiative marked the customer's very first project deploying this specialized anti-dew system. Special recognition goes to Geosign for championing the use of OL-1200 Anti-dew Overlay film on this project.

The project successfully executed high-spec digital traffic signage across Palermo with impressive results over the last quarter:

Project Scope: Production and installation of over 200 SQM of digital traffic signage deployed across major roadways in Palermo.
Printing Equipment: Digitally printed on the industry-leading Avery Dennison TrafficJet digital print solution, ensuring vibrant color output and long-term durability.
Premium Material Combination: Avery Dennison OL-1200 Anti-Dew Overlay, paired with high-performance T-7500 and T-6500 reflective sheeting for superior retroreflectivity and anti-dew performance.

Outstanding Performance and Customer Feedback

Feedback from the city administration and project team has been overwhelmingly positive. The customer expressed extreme satisfaction with the OL-1200 material, particularly commending its smooth, flawless application over reflective sheeting and its outstanding performance under heavy dew conditions.

Thanks to the complete success of this initial installation, additional sign fabrication projects utilizing Avery Dennison OL-1200 are already being planned for later this year and into next year.
