The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) from Saudi Arabia decided in 2018 that a new Saudi Standard for "Motor vehicles-Rear Under Run Protective Devices for Truck and Trailer" was required to make roads safer and reduce the number of accidents. This standard is called SASO REGULATION 2913:2018.

This standard includes general requirements for trailers and semi-trailers to ensure high levels of road safety. As stated in the SASO REGULATION 2913:2018 “The standard requires that all vehicles carrying goods, including tankers, mobile cranes, trailers and semi-trailers shall be equipped with rear underrun protective devices to protect against underrunning of vehicles in the event of rear collision with passenger cars, multi-purpose vehicles and light duty trucks having a maximum mass not exceeding 3.5 tonnes.”

The standard mentions that a yellow-colored retro-reflective tape with 50, 75 or 100 mm width should be applied in compliance with the Saudi standard (SASO 2913).

It is a high-quality, durable, microprismatic retroreflective material with a pressure-sensitive adhesive. Unlike other conspicuity tapes that may fill with dirt and water—compromising reflectivity—Avery Dennison tape has a solid, metalized design that does not require edge sealing.
