The concession “Costera” connects the two main cities of the Caribbean, Cartagena and Barranquilla, with an estimated length of 146.6 kilometers and forms a strategic corridor of international trade and tourism. This 4G (4th generation) project is vital for Colombia due to its fast progress of work in the corridors and functional units. The 4G of Road Concessions of Colombia is a road infrastructure program that proposes the construction and operation under concession of more than 8,000 km of highways, including 1,370 km of dual carriageways, and 160 tunnels, in more than 40 new concessions.
Its main objective is to improve the competitiveness of the country, reducing the cost and times of transportation, especially cargo from the manufacturing points to the export ports.
The majority of the project includes developing high-specification roads to guarantee safe and convenient passage between Cartagena and Barranquilla, in which there are new urban and tourist constructions such as the longest Viaduct in Colombia and the third longest in Latin America.
The concession “Costera” project was made possible by Inviseñales S.A.S company, with 20 years of experience in the field of Traffic Sign & Safety to contribute with the concessionary to develop the vertical traffic signage in the corridor.
The length of the project was 12 months, starting in August 2019 and finishing July 2020 with a total combined quantity of 2000 m2 air traffic signs and vertical traffic signs. All signs were printed with the Avery Dennison TrafficJetTM Print System on OmniCubeTM type XI retroreflective sheeting.
